Annual Installation of Office-bearers

At the Annual Installation of Lodge Greenock St John's No. 175 held on Saturday 25th October 2025 in the Masonic Temple, West Stewart Street, the Brethren of the Lodge were joined by Brethren from Masonic Lodges within and outwith the Province of Renfrewshire West to celebrate the Installation of Brother Thomas A. Porteous, P.M. as Right Worshipful Master.


Brother Alistair Lindsay, after opening the Lodge, welcomed a Deputation of Brethren from visiting Lodges, headed by Brother Alasdair Keith Right Worshipful Master of Lodge Sir Michael No. 989.


A deputation of Brethren from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire West headed by the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Brother John Williamson Black were thereafter received.


The Installing Masters, Brothers Edward M. Ross, Alexander Johnstone and Marshall R. C. North were received and warmly welcomed by Brother Alistair Lindsay, RWM.


During the Ceremonial which followed Brother Thomas Porteous was installed into the Chair of his Mother Lodge for the third time by Installing Master Past Master Brother Edward Ross assisted by Past Master Brother Marshall North.

 

The Office-Bearers for the ensuing year were also installed into their respective offices by Installing Master Brother Alexander Johnstone PM.

At the Installation Dinner which followed the usual Loyal Toasts were honoured as follows:


”The King” followed by “The Grand Lodge of Scotland” and “The Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire West” proposed by Brother Thomas A. Porteous, RWM, reply by Brother John W. Black PGM;

“The Installing Masters” proposed by Brother Thomas Porteous, RWM, reply by Brother Alex Johnstone PM, Brother Marshall R. C. North PM and Brother Edward M. Ross PM;


“The Right Worshipful Master” proposed by Brother Alistair Lindsay, IPM, reply by Brother Thomas A. Porteous, RWM;


“Lodge Greenock St John’s No. 175” proposed by Brother Stewart McFadyen, RWM of Lodge Firth of Clyde, Gourock, No. 626, reply by Brother Thomas A. Porteous, RWM;

“Visiting Brethren” proposed by Brother Adam McKenzie, WSW, reply by Brother Alasdair Keith, RWM of Lodge Sir Michael No. 989;


and finally:


“The Artists and Stewards” proposed by Brother Robert Johnstone, WJW,  reply by Brother Barry Anderson President of Stewards.
